Whilst out two weeks ago, we noticed that there are two new decked platforms down near the waters edge. Wondered if anybody knows what these are for? Are they going to be bar areas or storage for sunbeds?? Also nice to see the new toilets and changing huts...all seems to be looking nice and tidy for the summer season :)
-
they are 'vip' sunbed areas. another way to pay more to sit on the beach :-)
-
Oh! How odd ..... Thought that they may have been substitute bar areas with beanbags to replace the mafia run beanbag bars that were illegally on the beach!
-
They are VIP all inclusive areas from what we have heard. Pay one price and you get free drinks all day!
No idea what that price is though.
-
By the sounds of this I think I prefer the mafia run bean bags as It was this facilty that we enjoyed on the beach at night with friends. It looks as if this is becoming elite vip areas, and sounds like magaluf type drinkers. Not really what I come to Turkey each year for. Too much like Spain and I blame the English for demanding too much as I know genuine Turkish visitors are not requesting this at all.

Looks like it is not Ai - there is a daily cost, no idea how much and the bar there sells the drink.
-
the cost is 10 tl per day per person ... this gives you a sun bed with parassel ... waiter service from the little shop which sells snacks chilled drinks wine and beers ...which you pay for ... Efes is 6.5 tl per bottle.
-
yes, and they are packed in tight ! very little space around each sun bed. What a yukky idea [xx(]
-
They have a similar thing in Praia da Rocha on the Algarve. 20 euros per day and great if yu just want to relax away from kids etc. very expensive though and the beer and food even more so.
We went last year as they reduce it t 5 euros in Oct. it was nice but we paid well over the odds for beer and food..

I think Calis prom is one of the worst proms i have been on the only seats are on the viewing area, one lot of not very good toilets ,its no good saying sit on the wall thats almost impossible unless you are a kid ,even fethiye plenty of seating very short on toilets ,and as for disabled ones forget it .:(
-
strange about the platforms! Would have thought maybe nice bean bag bar areas to sit on and chill and buy a drink. Cant see the point in squashing sunbeds on and charging a fortune for drinks. Still, I bet they will be used in the height of season! As said before though, nice changing huts and toilets now.
-
yes ! the huts and loos are now fab !!! really quite classy :)
-
This is what they look like

anyone know how much it will cost to use them[?]
-
It's on page 1 Des
:D
-
Thanks Toky, sounds quite reasonable, although looks a bit cramped, at least its a start, needed something doing to the beach for years, just hope they can get rid of these so called street dogs crapping all over the place.
-
I liked all the big flpppy cushions last year on the edge of prom. The gliders now land directly on the prom as all the grassed areas have been edged off and landscaped.
:D
-
Yes they do! they nearly landed on me! Whoaah, only in Turkey! Everything there is so lovely now, they have worked very hard, but there is no (free) shade anywhere unless you sit in a bar. They will loose trade I'm sure. Not everyone wants to sit in direct sun. Buzz bar still great!
-
Yes they had it all really nice at the start of last year but half way through the year some of the grass hadn't been cut the flower beds where all weedy and grass stopped to be watered and the plants looked really tired, hope that this year they keep it looking good all year.
It's a shame that all of the paragliders end up camping on the nice grass area's. One thing that I find frustrating in Turkey is the fact that things will be done to improve and area but once finishned it gets left and deteriorates, such a shame.
-
Looks like the character of Calis is changing. I'm all for progress, but I know what I like & can only see this idea escalating, which will something I & I'm sure many other won't like. Just keep the beach clean. Eliteism(spelling)is not something Ive come to experience in this lovely resort. All inclusive on the beach. Whatever next. If the thing ain't broken, don't try to fix it !!!!
-
tonyb I think you will find that these areas are at Olu Deniz :) So don't worry to much!

The thread is on Olu Deniz beach - not Calis ;)
-
Oh Sorry Val, so dogs dont crap in Olu Deniz then. ;)
-
I have to say Des that in my experience and I am on the beach quite a lot dogs crap doesn't seem to be a major issue at Olu Deniz, hope I'm not putting my foot in it ;)
-
Yes i agree Tony, they do seem to control the issue better than Calis.
-
In all my years of going to Olu deniz I have yet to see a dog on the beach let alone dog muck. Thankfully not an issue at Olu. Perhaps it's more rife in Calis as Calis is a residential area and Olu is not
