41 degrees in the shade today according to my thermometer! forecast says its going to get hotter and could be 48degrees next week, in the shade. that must be what, 60 in the sun?! its soooo hot its horrible. i dont have aircon and live in karagedik, have to walk 10-15mins to a shop/bus stop/anything lol, its not fun! good for the people on holiday though i guess :) apart from my poor mum who's staying with me this week, we're both sleeping with wet towels over us to keep cool, and the fan on full blast but thats not even helping!
warnings to stay out of the sun between 10am-4pm, cant see that happening with tourists lol. i can see a lot of people ending up with sun stroke!
off to try and sleep now, wish me luck ;)

missdanni 1992 - not good for people on holiday and if I had the misfortune to be there just now I can assure you that I would most certainly be heeding the warnings. :)
Thankful it has only happened to us once and if I remember it was only for a day.

Certainly a good time for the all day sun cream! Factor 30,40 or 50 is a must surely?
-
And carry a bottle of cold water wıth you at all tımes. If I go out I wet a small towel and wrap ıt round a bottle of frozen water place ıt ın a plastıc bag. Then every so often I put ıt round my neck for a whıle helps to cool down.

I remember years ago when we used to go to Turkey on holiday none of the hotels had airconditioning. Don't know how we survived! I well remember being unable to sleep at night becase of the heat
-
When we lived in Turkey and the days before aircon I used to get in the shower with my sheet and stand under the cold shower it was the only way to cool down and get to sleep!
-

and if it has (as it says here) only been in the high thirties I will eat Doğan's smelly socks ;)

Dont forget Nıchola those temps are ın the shade. It was ın the 50's ın our garden yesterday and at 9am today ıt ıs already 35 ın the shade on our balcony.
-
It's been mid 40s for about a week, everytime I've passed the Esnaf thermometer on the Migros road
-
One reason why we choose to go in May & September.. 8)
lucky for us we do not have to go in the high season as no children of school age now :)
could never stand that sort of heat.
-
Please don't moan too much about it as back home in the UK it's 13 degrees, dark, grey, with heavy rain !!, there again it is mid July I suppose !! ;) :)
-
That's a relief Quackers, I won't have to eat those smelly socks now ;)
Seriously this heat is pretty hard to cope with. I was asked the other night how come I am so white and pale! It's cos I am trapped in my house with the air con on full blast.
Still, Doğan and I made a flying trip to the UK for a wedding one August a few years ago and it was so cold I had frostbite and I swore then that I would never complain about the heat ever again. I really feel for you all back home and given a choice I know I would still rather be here :)

14 deg C (in the sun, which is behind clouds) in cold, damp Leicester.
Also, off work with a cold! Lovely cold British summer :'( . I heard a lot of people are planning to get a last minute Holiday in the sun due to;
A. The Rain and cold.
B. This boring Olyimpic's that only Londoner's seem to benefit from.
C. Fed up with over priced days out (over £100 for a family of four to a theme park now in Britain, unless you have a money off voucher).
So watch out soon for the Brit invasion! :o ;) ;D
Best regards.
