My daughter once purchased a large jar of minced garlic but we have never been able to find it since .Brilliant for adding a spoonful or more to dishes . If anyone spots any please let me know as I have been searching for ages.

You sometimes see this in the "Asian" section of the larger supermakets alongside the noodles, soya sauce etc. It's a bit hit and miss on availability, but worth checking out....

Yes, most of big supermarkets stock this, it is sometimes called Lazy Garlic and can be found near the Lazy Ginger. Seriously! Very useful stuff. There is also a tube of garlic purée.

I think they are looking for availability in Turkey...

One thing I always stock up with when I do a "trolley dash" to the UK is Gia garlic puree. Saves all the faff of peeling & it's never full of green shoots, as the fresh stuff is at certain times of the year

I have seen in it bottles in Tespo

I always used to use Lazy Garlic in the UK but since I've got used to using fresh in Turkey I think the minced garlic tastes processed or different .....

The last time I brought some was in the kipa at calis.

I tried the shaking method of peeling the cloves ,but unfortunatly it didnt work for me.Has anyone tried this way and got it to work?

I bash mine with a wooden meat tenderizing hammer and the cloves just pop out of the skins making it much quicker than peeling them.
I often crush a whole heap of cloves and put them in a little water with a smidgen of salt in a jam jar and keep them in the fridge which saves preparation time when cooking.
You can also use olive oil instead of water as some one suggested on another topic.

I think I would jump out of my skin as well if I saw you advancing waving a wooden hammer!

Thanks for that tip Nichola, will try that method next time.
