Does anyone know where the large and long Turkish green peppers can be sourced in the UK? The ones you often see served with meals bbq'ed. Like the ones on the left here:

I've not seen them in supermarkets or greengrocers, just wondered if anyone knows of somewhere to try. Not Stoke Newington or Haringey though, somewhere perhaps national - thanks :)

Most of the big supermarkets around our way sell them. I guess that Perthchestershire isn't too popular with Asians but I would think you might be able to find an Asian Supermarket somewhere near you that'll have them.
Or, if there's an Asian restaurant locally that you know, why not ask them if you can buy off of them. At least they should be fresh.

We don't have that many Asians to be honest. We have lots of Polish folks, I'll try their shops :D

I can see a business opportunity here ! "Peppers By Post To Perthchestershire" !

Tesco sometimes have them

HarringAy Keith - and they're proud of it but don't know about the peppers...

I get them from my local Turkish shop along with other goodies which we have when away in Turkey, but we are a long way from you up there ;D

I will try Asda, our Tesco doesn't have them. Thanks for replies - I might BBQ them if we get a summer, but for now I am composing a Menemen substitute :)

Yes me too but I can manage only around one a week :) Our Tesco also does the Turkish black olives, no Turkish breakfast is complete without them.

I'm surprised they haven't insisted on changing it to Harrinbrightandshowy. ;)

Well I've tried all supermarkets, M&S and a greengrocer here. Nearly all have the red ones. The greengrocer was able to show me that he knew what they were like, by using his fingers to show a rough diameter of them and then showing me roughly how long they grow. Then he told me he only does the red ones.

Asda sell these though not from turkey.
