Other than posting a Google Earth view of the area I am not sure how to answer your question johnrc.

I would say you have to ask what you think of it. People who own around the Pelin will tell you it is the best area to buy in. Everyone else will say they prefer the area they bought in  :)

If you like it, there's your answer  ;)

It looks like a nice quite area, but talking to other people who have said that the area is more prone to crime. not sure if this is true or not.
thanks John

It is purely a case of personal choice but you might like to factor other things into your decision like safety and security.  Some areas see more break ins than other areas and likewise some areas see opportunist thieves grabbing bags and mugging people.  Check everything out then make your own mind up.

As the last reply (ray) says, personal choice, but the reports  ive had over the last few years, its a load of crap, would,nt touch that area at all. :(

Some nice houses in that area one in particular pass the Pelin and go toward the bridge over the canal there is a huge house as big as a small Hotel.  It belongs to one family who seem to use it as a holiday home. It's a lovely place.  We pass that area all the time and can see nothing wrong with it.  No noise at night, but nice and handy for the prom.  I have seen some new houses being built there and they look good.

My only concern with the area is that the further back from the sea you go, the further you need to walk for a shop etc. There are indeed some very nice properties though.

There is a new shop opened up. Cross the bridge and go left and on the first right is a brand new little shop with all the necessary items.  There is an older couple that run it and the seem to stay open quite late.  it's just as big as a large garden shed but we were saying we had to admire the fact someone had opened up there, in the middle of a lot of houses, with no shops.

I suppose the question is, how near to the Pelin.  We live close to the Pelin, well we think so anyway as we use it as a guide to get people here.  Unlike Des I can say that we like the area, it's quiet, near to the beach, next to to the last remaining area of mass agriculture in calis, although not sure how long it will be before development starts there, and as Jacqui points out we now have a local shop for local people.  The only downside at the moment is that the kanalisation works have made a mess of the area adjacent to the kanals, but hopefully that will not last much longer and we will get our roads and in some cases services back.  Having said that we do miss the old kanal with reeds and wildlife.

Not sure what these bad things are that Des alludes to, but we live here all year and I am not aware of any problems that are not encountered  in other parts of Calis.  So I cannot think of any exceptional reason why you would not choose to live here, as opposed to any other Calis location, so it is down to you whether you like the house/apartment and the area itself.

I agree with Jackie and UBT , I also live permanently in this area and have done so for well over 2 years and never had any issues  with security , we also lived at the other end of Calis across from the Anna Hotel and loved that also , again no security issues , as we said it's all down to Preference , check it out yourself and make your own choice , would be inappropriate to make your decision on someone's reply .
Burglary' and Theft can and unfortunately do happen but to single out a particular area is in my opinion incorrect.

As some of you know we lived by the Pelin
Hotel for some years, really liked it.
No crime where we were but the locals
Did call our complex 'The Prison'
With its high walls and gates.
10 to 15 min walk to sea front .

I have a property 400yds from the new little shop, had it for 9 years and spend around 8 weeks a year there  Been broken into once but apart from that I love the area, the locals are great and the man in the little shop is lovely he brings the shopping round if it is heavy and if you want something he doesn't stock he will get it for you.

You don't need a wooden spoon Jacqui my love, you will manage perfectly well without one, and besides they don't sell wooden spoons in Marks and Sparks, only Silver ones.  :-* :-*

Pelin Hotel was such a noisy hotel up to a couple of years ago - with very loud music - seems ok now but we could hear it and we live about 600 metres away.

My husband and I just came home after a visit to Calis searching for properties. We spoke to a Turkish guy who lives by the shop I think you might be talking about. Is it by the canal just before the bridge? The guy told us the building work going on there are new villas and a small car parking area for residents. If so the parking idea would be great for people living in the apartments next to the canal as there doesn't seem to be adequate parking. We really liked this area as it had a residential feeling yet being only 10min walk into Calis center.

yes, we felt the same, lovely quiet pretty area but only 8 mins to the prom and 8 mins in the other direction for a more rural outlook. We bought an apt there this year, i think when all the work is finished it will be a great area, we love it.
