Large bottles of wine - Uruarta
« on: November 09, 2007, 09:59:06 AM »
Does anyone know if anywhere is stocking the large 2 litre bottles of red wine. The make we were buying previously was Uruarta (not sure of spelling). The wine was great to mix with Lemonade and the like and was good value at under 10 YTL a bottle.

Thanks
Linda

Hi Linda,

Can't be sure, but try Calis Market - in Akarca, between the new court building and the Opet petrol station, they stock a wide variety of cheap wines.

Can't stand it myself, a waste of good lemonade in my opinion  ;)

There was some change in the law this year with regard  to the cheaper wines (apparently the producers were not paying tax on them), as a result a lot of them including Urartu are no longer being produced and those that still are, now have a tax sticker on the top of the bottle, and cost a lot more. Several people I've spoken to that used to stock Urartu have said it is no longer available, wether that will change in future seems to be anyones guess.
