Ideal for Fathers' Day?
« on: June 19, 2009, 21:29:15 PM »
I'm getting heartily sick of the rash of TV adverts telling the world that their product is "ideal for fathers' day". The latest being the Greatest Hits of Black Sabbath; my father is 85 & that's one of the last things he would consider ideal. This is a man, that in the 60's, thought the Beatles were "a racket" :o

So what would be an ideal pressie for my Dad? I need help & fast

Take him for lunch and spend time with him I am sure any present would take second place to your company :)

A nice pen for doing the crosswords with.
Liquorice Allsorts.
A good magnifying glass.
A nice picture frame with a family picture in.
Or perhaps a nice meal out?

I went to see him earlier this week (taking a bag of liquorice allsorts) & offered to take him out for lunch, to be told he had a nice piece of fish in the fridge, so why would he want to go out! After a couple of hours he said "it's about time you bu**ered off home now"

Kevin, having lost my mother nearly 30 years ago, I can well understand those sentiments
