YouTube - banned sites in Turkey - Easy Fix!
« on: September 06, 2009, 10:50:01 AM »
If you want to visit banned sites in Turkey there is an easy fix. Usually it is not the site's address which is banned but the DNS.

To get around this the easiest way is to change the DNS of your router/modem (there are other ways but this is simple and convenient).

1. Go into your router settings (there will be a web page to visit to do this - click link below).
http://www.adslteknikservis.com/default.asp?sayfa=adsl_modem_sifre

2. Find your DNS settings (may just be a check-box for dynamic in which case uncheck the box). There will be two boxes that you need to put your new DNS settings in.

3. The easiest thing to do is to get the DNS settings from OpenDNS.
https://www.opendns.com/start/device/router

4. You may need to reset your modem after you've done it.

Voila, no more banned websites, no more poxy proxies! :D:D:D

Click on the button next to "Use the following DNS server addresses" and it will allow you to enter the numbers.

@karaokemark
Mine is a TTnet Pikatel so different menus i'm afraid. If it's any help, when i login to the webpage i click...
-Gelismis Ayarlar
then
-Gelismis Kurulum
then
-DNS
then untick the Otomatik Atanmis DNS Etkin box and put DNS settings into
-Birincil DNS Sunucu:
-ikincil DNS Sunucu:

Hope that helps you...
John
