We have been told that it is possible to get a ferry from venice to marmaris, does anyone have any info about this. if not does anyone know and can supply us with the details of another ferry route which will keep the driving down to a minimum. If possible could you include shipping line name and possible costings and any tips.

I think that's old information, it is no longer a route and was something like 62 hours. Ancona to Cesme would be the minimal driving route now:

Two years ago we caught the ferry from Venice to Patra in Greece then drove across to Pireaus (port town of Athens) which is about 3-4 hours drive away. We then caught a ferry from Pireaus to Kos and then caught a very small ferry (took all of 4 cars) from Kos to Bodrum which is only a half hour crossing.  It was a great trip and would do it again tomorrow.  We were even able to pick up last minute ham, bacon, cheese etc from Lidl on Kos and get them home  in time to get them straight into the fridge.

The ferry we use is from Venice to Igoumenista in Greece. 50% discount at the moment..
www.aneklines.com
It will take approx 23 hours to drive to Fethiye from Igoumenista.
You can get a ferry from Ancona to Cesme but this only runs in the summer months and is basic compared to Greek ferries.
Google search Italy to Turkey ferries for that info.
The other option is multiple ferries as Pi55y described.
Good luck
