Arsenal v Sunderland

never thought i would have to say it, but my god does alex ferguson have a point about referees in this country, have just watched arsenal v sunderland, arsenal in attacking position, throw in, referee gives foul throw, replays show nothing wrong with the throw whatsoever, it now seems the referees in this country are crap, please bring back refs like jack taylor, or bring in the best ref the world has seen, our bald freind collina(i think i spelt it right). moral of this is referees will decide who wins the premiership not the talent on the pitch. sad the way its going, and the F A will protect the refs all the way, :-\[:(!]

I didn't see the game but I do agree with you to a degree Des - referees make mistakes but don't we all - they should just be accepted. It all comes down to respect, today's referees don't generally have it and the likes of Collina did - even Roy Keane shut up when the Italian's eyes bulged. I don't know why some have it and some don't - it's a bit like teachers in that respect.

The best thing that was ever done to address disrespect of officials was the rule allowing free kicks to be moved 10 yards forward. Of course, the worst thing done was to scrap it.
