unluky arsenal, hard enough to beat the best team in the world with 11 players,have just read reports there was 1 second between the whistle and van persie,s shot,nou camp nosier than the kop when they get going, but barcelona definately the best team on the night, so not sure if he,d stayed on would have made a difference.

The speed and accuracy with which Barcelona move the ball is breathtaking, the movement and work rate off the ball is a joy to watch.
The second booking was ridiculous, he had already shaped to take the shot when the whistle went.
As you say Des I fear the result may well have been the same.

I don't think it really matters if he did or not - kicking the ball away was (as I remember) bookable due to doing it as an act of petulance or possibly intentional time wasting. Making it an offence just because someone made contact just the wrong side of the whistle is a ridiculous development in the interpretation.

Best team won on the night, but feel really sorry for Arsenal, even the commentators were saying with the noise of 98,000 people it would have been difficult for RVP to hear the whistle.   I suppose now Wenger and RVP will be punished for their after match remarks about the ref.   Incidentally, what on earth was Wenger and the Arsenal staff wearing? They looked like rejects from Oasis.

Not sure if he actually heard the whistle,but as you say, doubt it would have made a difference on the result.Messi is good to watch though.

No excuses beaten by a better team.  The game highlighted some of weaknesses of Wegner.  For example, using players - even good players like RVP and Cesc - when they are clearly not fit to play, Diaby is not a holding midfielder, and if you want a decent centre half you have got to be prepared to spend more than half a crown!!  Still Jack Wilshire did shine through, which only goes to show that not all Wenger does is wrong.

So now all we can do is the english double, and joy of joy the only thing between us and the double is ManU.  Best of all I have a ticket for Saturday's cup match at Old Trafford, so look out for me on MoTD.
