My introduction to music was in 1966, I was 8 and my parents bought a new "Fidelity" mono record player from the Co-op (probably on tick), with that player we got 4 free 45 rpm singles they were;

You really got me - Kinks.
Baby Love - Supremes.
Michelle - The Overlanders.
You were on my mind - Crispian St. Peters.

I played those records 'till the grooves were smooth, and they are imprinted on my memory !  :)

It's now or never.- Elvis Presley
Little Blue Man - Petula Clark
My Old Man's a Dustman - Lonnie Donegan
Rubber Ball - Bobby Vee
Seven Little Girls Sitting in The Back Seat - The Avons
Only the Lonely - Roy Orbison
These are the ones my sister owned and played on her record player I guess about 1960 or so. I had to wait another 10 years to get my first player, 6/8d a week on HP, the only update was it had a bass and separate treble knob - can you imagine technology advances being so slow these days. I walked to Cheetham Hill Road on a Saturday morning and they would tear off and give you a little receipt like they used to do for your papers.
