How long did it take you to work out the appropriate use of a Turkish toilet? I think it must have been the third or fourth year that I visisted before it dawned on me how it was designed to be used. At least I think I now know, but I've never asked a Turkish person to confirm that I have got this right. It is a little delicate and personal a topic.

I think this came up a couple of years ago as part of a topic as to whether you should bin or flush toilet paper. I made the point that if you use the Turkish toilet as intended you will only put clean paper in your bin.

My question is this. If going for a wee do you aim straight into the hole to make as much noise as possible, or splash it around the sides to keep it quiet?
