Brian McDermott leaves position as Reading manager

A shame, I thought he was doing a pretty decent job given the resources he had. Which wasn't many.

Same old, same old as far as I am concerned.

Just what exactly do the owners think that a new manager can achieve with the same set of players ?.

Comes across as a really nice genuine guy - but sadly nice guys don't seem to do well in football - look at Fergie :-)

Reading have lost a truly great manager who has only been hampered by limited finances (as ever)  - something we thought would change when the oligarch arrived (My son - a season ticket holder can't quite believe it 'who is going to improve things at this point of the season ?' ;)

Another example of how a manager who took a side into the premiership then subsequently dropped back out of it (or is in danger of) has far less job security than one who never achieved the promotion in the first place. Best rule for championship managers: Don't get promoted.

Not sure about that Keith. Would like to wager more Championship managers have lost their jobs than PL ones this season.

No money and not checked yet but I yep think I might be right.

Sad day for Reading. He seems a nice bloke who has been hampered by having little money to spend.

Di Canio is favourite to take over (he was there on Saturday)
No doubt he will be fired if (when) we are relegated  :(
27 points at stake with Man U and Arsenal as our next two games  >:( >:( >:(

Maybe so Stoop. I'll change my opinion to this: Promotion to the Premiership followed by relegation is seen overall as a failure, not an achievement.

OK Keith. Thing is at least going up gives them a chance to pit their wits against the big boys. Then when they get sacked there is always another job in the lower leagues  ;)
