Hi,

We are trying to find out if anyone makes and fits Wooden External Window Shutters in the Fethiye/Calis area as we would like them on our house.

yes lots of places
members will have good and bad people to use or not to use
is your property not used all the time?
other house owners around you may also be of help
look for any when looking around and then ask the owners, they may become you new friends

Susie, wooden shutters look lovely but have you thought how much maintenance they require and how often you'll have to varnish them?

Hi Valentine,

As you say it is high maintenance and we have thought about that, but we have a lot of wood on our property anyway, all the balconies, windows and patio doors on our house are wood, and we would still like to have Wooden Shutters.

Most likely will increase our house insurance as well by having them.

Wood shutters are also very practical as they keep out the heat and make the rooms dark and cool when closed. Also if they are under the cover of a balcony or veranda they should not need varnishing more than once every couple of years as they will not bear the brunt of the sun, which causes most of the damage.

From a security point of view they will also help as it is just another barrier that the criminal has to get through. However I noticed on my last visit that many homes now have security bars fitted - a sign of the times I fear!

Evidently the week before we went out there had been a break in on Saglik and the theives had gutted the property as well as stealing the owners car. So just beware out there - it's not all milk and honey!

Hi Stoop,

Security is one of the reasons why we would like them.

But please please please has no one had any shutters made.

i have also seen plastic shutters
ask in window making places, they usually have a little sample on display
inquire find a price and then think about it the price will come down a little as they want your cash.
but im sorry i dont no anyone who has new ones.

Susie,

Sorry our's were already on the house. I'm sure there are lots of joiners out there. Surely someone will know a good one for you.
