Starting a NEW Life in sunny Turkey ( 8th May 2018 )
« on: April 16, 2018, 14:27:05 PM »
* Warm weather  8)

* Low cost of Living

* No Council Tax !

* High Interest in Bank

* Bowls green, bicycle hire, some great gyms , Walking groups etc etc

* Plenty of Brits live around Calis, to make new friends wıth.

Hopefully this is REALITY !!!

Can anyone recommend any good Rental companies ?

How much should I be paying for reasonable 2 bed , furnished Apartment , for 12 months ?

Do many English live in the area of Tasyaka ?

One Calis  Rental company is  asking for 12 months upfront - why is this ?

Many thanks for your speedy replys.

Regards

Tony ( currently living in Worcester , but in Turkey for a few days ).

It can be cold during the Winter months, especially if you're in an uninsulated "holiday style" apartment.

Cost of living depends on your lifestyle - for many things it's not as cheap as you may think, or used to be.

Yes, there is council tax, albeit lower than the UK, but the flip side is you need health insurance - which in some cases can be more than you'd pay in council tax in the UK.

High interest rates are there because inflation is high.  By the time you pay the tax on any interest received, you're just about keeping up with the inflation rate.

"Plenty of Brits" is probably more of a disadvantage than a benefit.

Speak to Cenk at Interturk, he's a member on here and one of the good guys.

It's to make sure you see out the contract and don't simply bugger off at the end of the season.

Great place yes indeed, but be careful not to just look through those rose tinted glasses. Always makes sure you have a fall back plan. As if you commit all it can be different to afford to go back......if you need or want too.

Why tasyaka? Any particular part it's huge! Apartments through cenk at interturk, inspector at golden moon. Also hg a good estate agent in tasyaka.
Sahbinden on internet  in Turkish if you go to bottom right of page click on English it will translate. Found with apartments it's one month's rent,one months deposit,one months fees. Prices can vary..Turkish prices..600/700 lira a month or less to expat prices 1000 +. Someone quoted me 1700 recently for a one bed in koca calis..I did laugh. Lots of people pay a year upfront, works well for both sides. Get a tenancy agreement. If you are renting you don't usually pay council tax. utilities are usually gas bottle,water and electric payable by you. Factor in residency costs,health insurance, dentist. Heating in winter..an invertor air con reduces costs all year. Not many rentals have them.
Good luck!
