applying for residency
« on: August 18, 2014, 21:53:13 PM »
Relocating to Calis in October and although my fiance is Turkish we would still appreciate any advice on applying for residency, cost, insurance companies etc. I have a pre-existing medical condition and am concerned that my medical insurance may be more expensive or difficult to obtain because of this....anyone else been in this situation? Please share your advice/knowledge. Thnx   :)

Hello Joyce, my husband is Turkish and he says it is easier and quicker if you are married but not sure how long it takes otherwise.

Thanks Rana.....unfortunately it doesn't seem to be so easy to get married now either...rules are a changing all the time. Think there's been too many peeps jumping on the 'green card' band wagon. Anyway it seems that no insurance will cover me for my pre-existing condition..feeling a lot concerned over this new development as my treatment is an ongoing affair!  :o :(

There is a company that can help you through all of this in Fethiye, unfortunately I don't have the contact details, it's in a card shop next door to the Mulberry Tree cafe on the back road, they offer all kinds of services inc. residency   :)

It's Hippy Chic and the owners are Lynda and Yakup Ylimaz.   Lynda sells handmade cards and jewellery and Yakup is a registered Translator and also arranges residency for a lot of Brits.  He has his office in the shop.
I can recommend his services. He helped us quite a lot with translations and is a really nice guy.
We always call in and I buy things from Lynda her stuff is lovely.
I  see Brits in there all the time speaking to Yakup about residency.

I read on 'Yellali' today that as well as the 'new' requirement for health insurance you need a translated version of your passport (into Turkish ?)
