You do seem to have got your money's worth over the years though     ;)
Oh yes, and I am hoping they will still renew my policy in February when it becomes due because I have already booked a short trip to Madeira and a fortnight in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

Well worth it, I suppose. I doubt it is £500+ per annum like mine!

Yes, apart now, from Travel to Turkey which is no longer on the cards for Colwyn.

Strikes me you're showing your true colours with that completely unnecessary and uncalled for dig at someone, who not only has principles, but is prepared to air them publicly and then stand by them.

And please don't go down the "simply stating a fact" route, you'll just be digging a deeper hole for yourself.

Back to what I was asking originally without going into too much detail if one of us gets a cancer diagnosis on renewing my travel insurance policy next year would I have to declare it, considering that most policies wouldnt pay out for an existing condition anyway, not a situation I was expecting to find on making plans for 2017...thanks again for any relevant replies

Insurers should pay out for any medical conditions if they have been declared and all say that you should inform of any new conditions diagnosed while the policy is valid. All this adds to the premium of course but you wouldn't be covered for anything not declared but which had been previously diagnosed and then needed to claim for.

You definitely need to declare it Karen - to not do so leaves you exposed, as exposed as not being insured at all.

The big choice really is more do you declare it and have insurance exempt for the declared condition (i.e. you are insured for everything other than any problems that are related to the declared illness/condition) - or declare it and pay an extra fee to be covered for all possibilities including those relating to the declared ailment/condition.

The extra you pay is often far less than you might imagine - and peace of mind on your hols is...priceless.

If it's any help we used insure with. They cover pre existing conditions,p without it being too pricey.

Another one to have a look at is Avanti.  They specialise in insuring people with medical conditions.  I'm just looking for a worldwide, joint policy for our next trip to New Zealand next year and will give these a try, have also used Staysure in the past and they are pretty good.

Staysure were the company that repatriated me when I had heart failure whilst staying in Turkey.
