Fascinating though this is- I'd love pointing in the right direction of where to get one. I have of course used the search facility- being an effecient member and not wanting to put anyone to any trouble- however nothing appeared! So I know youre all dying to tell me- where do I get them and how much are they? Many thanks[:X]

Up here in Istanbul we get ipragaz and costs about 25 million for a tup but could be different price down there.

Roy H posted something on this a while back and said how much he paid.

Note:
When I went over the following visit the site man cornered me and said I owed him 12 million because he made a mistake on the cost so refills seem to be 23 million, don't know about deposits on the bottles though

Thanks, they seems to all be around the 23/25 mil mark then- now that Roy has cleared up that one- 11 did seem cheap!
Presumably there are local gas shops in Calis/Gunlukbasi?
-
Dave, Is your local gaz shop the one at the end of the main road?

There is one in Gunlukbasi, at the Baris Manco Bulvari end

We have a gas boiler for our hot water and it lasts about two weeks with four of us, is that about average?

At the risk of raising everyones blood pressure by resurrecting this fascinating thread- does anyone know how to tell you are nearing the end of your bottle. Before those wise ar*es amongst you tell me that the appliance ceases to light- I just wondered if there was another way of knowing in order to avoid having to dash out part way through cooking to buy one! The one we've got was already in our apratment so could be nearly full or nearly empty!
-
Once you've got used to it you can tap the bottle and can tell roughly how much gas is left by the pitch of the sound.
OR
Buy another one now! That way you've always got a spare and no worries about running out half way through a meal.

For our gas bottle we use when caravanning we bought a little tab that sticks to the bottle and registers the temperature of the gas inside thus showing what level its at. Will be bringing some over with us in April! Tone deaf!

At the risk of sounding thick, when you get your first gas bottle do you also get the pipe that connects to your cooker, have never used a gas bottle in my life so haven't got a clue.
-
Some of the gas suppliers will supply it if you tell them what length you want .
Alternitively Val, YOU can ask Uncle Muko and he will do it for you. (He just said he would ).
-
Thanks Heidi, I'll ask uncle Muko when we see you in May!

Val,
We use Innan (not sure spelt right)at Aygaz on the main Gunlukbasi road.
They will bring the first bottle complete with pipe and install for you. I believe the cost was approx 45 YTL, refills are 25YTL. We ran out one night whilst cooking sent him a text and 5 mins later he was at the door, amazing service considering we didn't give him an address. I can supply you with his number if you require or its a 5/10 minute walk from your house.

Many thanks Gary, I will get the number from you nearer to us coming over in May, otherwise I'll only lose it!
