Title: Bagging the Munros
Post by: Old Daffodil on November 06, 2009, 12:26:57 PM
I wonder if anyone out there is aware of a good book about walking the Munros in Scotland. It is known as Bagging the Munros to enthusiasts apparently. My son loves walking the Munros when he is in Britain and I would like to buy him a book about it for a Christmas present.

Whilst walking the area a couple of years ago he met a professor who was living in a camper van in the area and he was going to write about it. I do not know if that book was ever published but maybe somebody does. [?]

Daffodil - I have a friend who is a keen Munro Bagger and who would also highly recommend "The Munros: Scottish Mountaineering Club Hillwalkers Guide" as suggest by Pookie.

Cameron McNeish has a similar book but according to my friend it's not as good as the SMC one.

Incidently, he was upset recently to find that one of the Munros he had bagged is now classified as a Corbett.
