Thursday 23rd April is Turkish Sovereignty and Children's Day.
There will be children singing and dancing in the Beşkaza public square from 2.30pm followed by stage events until about 8pm.
Potentially a good photo opportunity.

I'm sure that the 23rd of April is some other country's National Day - but nationals of that country usually forget it. Wonder where that is?
-
That's the day when displaying one of these is even more racist than on the other 364 days of the year apparently.

It was villified and "dumbed down " lest it upset smaller groups of the community by Mr Blair and his cohorts, some of whom are seeking
your vote soon.

Time to celebrate St.George's day on the 23rd April, in England. i remember when I was at school we always had the flags up for this day.
-
Ah yes, that'll be the answer. The English are meticulously politically correct as they don't want to upset any of their neighbours. Not that they forget when St George's Day is and never learned about about Shakespeare's birthday in the first place. That's obviously the answer. Silly me for doubting it.
-
We also learned that Shakespeare's birthday was the same day, at our School in Liverpool. However, I prefer Burns to Shakespeare. ;)
-
And his death day.
-
I didn't know that Shakespere was born in a school in Liverpool! ;) 8)

Hamlet : Brevity is the soul of wit : Hamlet :)
-
But you have to agree ST George is a myth really, apparently someone born in Turkey and went around killing Dragons, don't know how he got to England, but we are daft enough to believe in anything. ;) :)
-
You'll be telling us next that the stories in The Bible are just fairy tales.
-
Have to admit KKOB. have often wondered how all the disciples names were English, and Jesus is a south American name, yet here they were in the middle east, long before they went out into the world to spread the word (allegedly). ;)
-
Yep, "Jesus Loves You" is a wonderful thing to know, unless of course you're in a Mexican prison.

In my daughters street there will be lots of St George's flags flying today as is the norm. I would love to see the reaction if someone told them to take them down. I must add that one of the neighbours is an Asian and he has a flag out as well, as he says he's English as well.

I have just made the schoolboy error of clicking on this topic in the hope of reading about the "Turkish Sovereignty and Children's Day" :(

I'm hoping someone will post some pictures. ;) ;)
-
Me too.
Of the children that is not Maurice Dancers ;) ;)
-
You mean Maurice Minors. ?? :)

Does he have 4 or 5 kids and is on benefits from the government as well Chris. ;)

Was that comment really necessary?
You're coming across as a rather unpleasant individual.

No Des, he has 3 children, works full time as a driving instructor, his wife also works and they pay their taxes. Is that ENGLISH ENOUGH FOR YOU.

My fault, H. I diverted the thread by commenting on the coincidence of national days on the 23rd.

Crossed my mind that the above is a lot more than many of the indigenous population of England do...
