Title: Child Labour
Post by: kevin3 on October 24, 2016, 17:47:27 PM

BBC News in the UK are running a story and showing film of Syrian children making clothing in Turkish Factories

that is destined for top UK retailers stores and shops. I think they have an investigation going on.

Disgusting exploitation of kids in need, for profit. Hope they name and shame the Companies involved.   >:( >:(

Is it actually disgusting? People fleeing with literally nothing, earning cash? The alternative is surely worse...

The Turkish factory owners would probably agree with you, probably laid off the Turkish children for cheaper labour.

Genuine fake clothing, made by genuine fake workers.         There's also an item about it in todays HDN.

People need to eat and whilst I don't agree with child labour I feel some of the blame must lie with the parents who send their kids off to work.
Unless these huge companies hit the factories concerned hard in their pockets it will continue.  This isn't just a Turkish problem either, it happens the world over

Turkey takes in Syrians but there are no benefits and so the families must work to get money.  The families send their children out to work to make ends meet.
There is a lot of F.B. About this tonight and lots of Turkish people saying they were working when they were 12 and 14 years old.
A lot of people are saying if this programme stops child labour a lot of Syrian families in Turkey will suffer hardship.

So it's win-win all round.

Without this they might have nothing? I'm sure M&S etc don't choose them because they are children.
