Hi Ron, :) being a total techno idiot, how do I get this to work then? I want to use it as a pay as you go phone preferably with a major supermarket sim card (Tc) in the UK. Its my daughters old phone. Despite being too basic for her, its streets above my old  but current  :-\nokia but I am lost what to do with it!!!!

But if you use it in Turkey it costs a fortune, even if you just recieve calls, it's cheaper to buy a phone card and use a public phone, then you can regulate how much you are spending, i was there in April and i couldn't get my own phone registered to use a Turkcell sim, if you use one without doing so and they find it your phone will be blocked, I bought a cheap Philips one with sim and 250 kontours for £40 it was easier. When we move to Turkey my plan is to get my Nokia unlocked either in the UK or in Turkey.  I know I need to register my phone in Turkey.  I will buy a Tukcell sim card.  Is this a viable plan?

It's just not worth getting your U.K. phone "Unlocked" here in Turkey. I was given my mate Pauls "old" phone ,{another LG C3300} & paid 45Ytl to have it "opened/registered", it was closed down WHILE I WAS USING IT, in Josephs Bar in Calis, 3 weeks later!! Seems that there is some Government Agency, or other entity, that can track your phone down & lock it!!
By a cheapie, far easier ;):D
