Why don't you have a trip over to the Sunset Restaurant on Sovalye Island, it is wonderful sat outside and watching the sun go down. The owner serves trsaditional Turkish food and I am sure thye kids will love the adventure of the boat trip across. If you walk down to the far end of Fethiye marina (keeping the sea on you right hand side) you will find boats that will ferry you across.

First of all, have a happy birthday !
For real indulgence so over to the White Dolphin at Red Island (pick up from Ece Marina) but it is pricey. As is the Levissi and it's a bit hit and miss there and not really kid friendly. For something a little more pocket friendly, the Sundial is nice, or you could look into one of the places up by the tombs in Fethiye which serve a local speciality - chicken or lamb cooked in a clay pot in the oven.  If you want to splash out why not hire a boat as many of them do evening trips from Fethiye.  There's one from Olu Deniz which goes to one of the restaurants near Gemiler - you can't get to it by road so it's a bit different.

hi all, thanks for all your suggestions... sorry i've not been in touch but my broadband has been playing up and i've been unable to access the forum.  Some great suggestions here, many thanks to all again. We intend to try these restaurants so will let you know how we get on and how much weight we put on!
