Promises Auction How to make your bid!
« on: May 26, 2008, 16:23:04 PM »
Here are the details for bidding, both for those in the Calis area and for those bidding online.

Those who are able to attend on the night and wish to make bids, will be asked to complete a form on arrival at the Bambu and Nil Restaurant giving your name address and contact details. You will then be provided with a "Bidding Number" card as in UK auctions. This makes it easier both for the auctioneer and for administering the winning bids. Money will be collected on the night where possible, "Promises" issued and official receipts given. For those unable to pay on the night, payment will be required within 7 days of the close of auction or the item will be withdrawn. In these cases the "Promise" will not be issued until the payment is received.

For those who are not in Calis for the auction, here are the instructions for placing commission bids online and how we will deal with winning bids and collect payment from those in UK.

Go to the contact us page on our website www.caliscarnival.com and send us an e-mail at info@caliscarnival.com (you can do this anyway from hotmail etc without visiting the site).

Advise us what you are bidding on and how much you are prepared to bid up to and our auctioneer will bid on your behalf up to your maximum bid - just like a real auction or on e-bay. Bids will be accepted up to 12 midnight Turkish time ( 10.00 pm English time) on the night of Tuesday 3 June when this facility will close.

If you are a winning bidder we will e-mail you the next day and advise how much the item has cost you. It will not necessarily be your maximum bid

Although the Carnival Committee has a bank account here in Fethiye which is being overseen and audited by FETAV and Fethiye Belediye, we wish to avoid you having to pay additional money transfer costs to this account. We will therefore give you bank account details to pay the money into in UK. In the meantime here in Turkey, the item will be paid for on your behalf and receipts issued. If we do not receive payment into the UK account from you within 7 days of the close of auction, the bid will be void and any money paid by us will be reclaimed from the carnival committee account.

You will receive a copy of your "Promise" signed by the Promisor by e-mail giving full contact details of how to contact them and how to claim your promise as well as a receipt for your payment once the funds have cleared through the UK bank account. A hard copy of the "Promise" will also be sent to you in England by the next supporter who is returning to UK.

I hope that this clarifies the bidding system

I must say that the Calis Carnival Committee are totally overwhelmed at the generosity of our Promisors and that new "Promises" are coming in daily (and we will gladly accept more). I will try to post an updated list of the Promises every few days up to the day of the auction so please keep checking our website and the forums. All e-mails to the site will be dealt with daily

The event which is the main fundraising event of Carnival Week should be a really good night and we hope to raise lots of money for the chosen Carnival charities - deprived and disadvantaged children in the Calis/Fethiye area.

We really welcome your support as we cannot do this without you.

We also hope that those of you in the area will visit Calis on Carnival Day Saturday 7 June to enjoy some of the great events that are taking place on this, the first ever, Calis Carnival!
