Getting some money to Turkey
« on: November 14, 2008, 12:29:04 PM »
We have to get £700 to our management company in Turkey and wonder if anyone has any ideas how we can keep the cost down.

I can transfer it to their bank over here but it will cost £56 to draw it out in Turkey. Being a tight arse that seems a lot.

Not sure if it is possible or cheaper to put it into their Turkish account directly from our UK internet account. Anyone got any info on that?

We do not yet have an internet account in Turkey.

Thanks :)

One way is to find someone here who needs to get a similar amount back to the UK, you pay yours into their UK account, they pay whoever needs it over here - no charges :D

Transfer to Overseas Accounts using SWIFT

Please note: there is a transfer fee of £20 for SWIFT transfers that will be taken from your account.

Nationwide Building Society

........... just a suggestion

I have a Nationwide account so I must look into that. I like your idea Keith but I need to get it over pretty soon as it's to part-pay for some work on our house.

we do international transfers from our building soc for £25 per transfer.

I was told that we couldn't do it via the internet, which is a pain.  Any postoffice with do a transfer for you to, not sure of the cost though..

Thanks everyone - looks like a trip into my local Nationwide might be the best bet.
