Can you draw money out in sterling in Turkey from your UK bank account & if so does bank/cash machine charge for this using a debit card?

From HSBC you can (if there is Sterling in the machine), if you have a HSBC account in the UK there is no charge, can't say for other banks if you use HSBC machines.

Baz do HSBC machines regularly have no sterling.
Can you go into bank & get sterling with your UK account debit card from another bank if you are not HSBC account holder.

I normally draw GBP from my UK account from the machine, but the last few days there has been none, I haven't bothered going in to draw over the counter as I do not really need it (just like to have it handy when there is a better rate). I would think you could draw from other UK bank accounts, but would expect there to be a charge. I can't really say as I have HSBC here and in the UK. Maybe someone else on here will let you know.

We get sterling from Hsbc macines in calis and Fethiye with Nationwide debit card and do not get charged. I have never known the machines to be empty in the few times I have used them but that may be luck.

I get sterling from calis machines all three of them with my nationwide card.

I draw sterling out of the HSBG from my Halifax zccount, they charge me £1-50p. Alan

If you have a normal HSBC current account in the uk you will still incur charges when withdrawing money from ATM'S in Turkey,even HSBC,but if you have an HSBC PLUS ACCOUNT your withdrawals are free because you pay a monthly fee to your bank.

HSBC wanted to know how many times we went to the toilet to open an account in UK ;)so we stayed with Barclays ;)Well we will draw our Sterling in Turkey,it's cheaper than flying back to UK once a year to empty account & probably make more interest banking it in Turkey monthly.
