Bin Ladies
« on: July 16, 2009, 19:00:37 PM »
I have become used to seeing the ladies, followed by 2 or 3 cats, going around the bins in the area picking through other peoples rubbish to find anything that can be re-used, sold or fed to the chickens.

Over the years I have noticed that drinks cans (of which we go through many on holiday) are higly valued and so last year we started to save them up and then bag them up and leave the at the side of the bin, of course they snaffle the bags of tins straight away. It doesn't stop the ladies going through the bins, but I just feel it's a help. I wondered if any other Deliktas dwellers do this or if they would care to adopt this little scheme.

We always leave out plastic bottles and cans at the side of the bins too.  They're never there for long though.

I would like to recycle waste, especially plastic bottles. No one seems interested in Ovacik, I put all the plastic in one bag but it just goes in the cart with the rest.

I am always amazed at the amount of "recyclers" that appear in Tuzla, every day there are at least three regulars with either hand carts or modified tricycles, and each seems to collect different stuff, both from the rubbish bins and from households that have left their bottles and plastic outside for collection.
