I have often wondered how a big concern like Pickfords deal with the backhander costs - do they have their own section on the quote?

Pickfords use a local company in Turkey as they dont have an office here. When you get your estimate from them check the small print. Generally THC, SIT and local taxes are not included in the estimate. THC (terminal handling charge) is normally a straight forward fee but SIT (storage in transit) would not be included as thats a daily storage rate of your container being in the Turkish port and is charged from the day it arrives to the day it physically leaves the port. Also remember that the longer your goods stay in a container at the port as you are trying to get all your paperwork, the shipping line who owns the container charges demurrage for use of their container on a daily basis.
Just be prepared for costs like this that would not be included in your estimate.

I think they use their Allied partners in most countries as they are part of the Allied Network.

I'm sure it's a minefield but I think they know what they are doing.

Have a look at their website if you haven't yet seen it.

There - that's my plug for Pickfords today:D

ps - I don't have anything to do with the removals side of the business :)
