hi can anybody tell how to apply for residency in turkey and how long does it take? and can i apply over here in england thanks.

Not really in the UK, It can be done in a couple of days here fastrack (going to Mugla), or it can take up to 6 weeks by the turkish post.

If you go on to the Fethiye Times online they have a section telling you how to apply for residency. One of the first things you have to do is find out who the local Mukhtar is as you will need to speak to him.

Halil at the Gunes Hotel down behind the Bim in Ovacik is the local Mukhtar for Ovacik. Not sure if I have spelt the name correctly.  :)

You can also apply for a residency visa from the Turkish Consulate General in London.  The details are on their webite

Only the ill informed and those that have money and time to waste do this. After all, they only issue a residence visa and not a permit and after you paid close to a hundred pounds for a visa, you will have 30 days to get your residence sorted out here in Turkey and go through the same rubbish as those applying straight from Turkey.
