I don't think they will care much if you do or don't. Typical Brits, fall in love with and move to someone else's country then tell them what they should and shouldn't be doing.

It seems kinder to cull the boar by a clean shot than poisoning them. They do breed very quickly. I just hope that someone who is a very responsible sportsman does the job.

there used to be wild boar in the uk but they were hunted to extinction, just because i like the country does not mean i have to agree with killing animals for fun,i am against hunting for fun anywhere in the world, not just turkey,i am just sorry some people get used to it and it becomes the norm.

Heard a couple of years ago that they were thinking of introducing wild boar back into a forest (Dean, I think) in the UK.  Incredibly stupid idea I would have thought.  They are dangerous animals, especially when they have young, and will not think twice about attacking to protect the young or if provoked.
I don't agree with 'sport for money', pheasant shooting where the birds are raised specifically for shooting and their wings are clipped, fox hunting where 90% of the hunters live in cities and come out for a days ride/hunt and spend a fortune for the privilege.
BUT if an animal needs to be culled because of over breeding or danger then so be it.
Having said that anyone who wants to hunt should go and find their own 'targets'.  that would be sporting ;).

There are hundreds of wild boar in the south of England. They were hunted to extinction in the 14th century but have recently started to breed in the wild since escaping from boar breeding farms. Dorset, Kent and Somerset are among some of the counties where you will find boar in the forests.

You need to catch-up on the current situation of the wild boar population in the UK. Here's a site worth looking at to start with.

http://www.britishwildboar.org.uk/

Just as a matter of interest, Wild Boar are an entirely separate breed from Domestic Pigs that have escaped from captivity. Domestic Pigs that escape in the wild become feral pigs NOT wild boar.

Wild Boar meat is completely different to pork. It has a different colour and texture, and has to be treated in a different way.
