The roads in and around Ovacik!
« on: March 25, 2010, 17:48:32 PM »
Please excuse me if this is a stupid question!!
We got back from Ovacik last week (it was the first time we had been to our apartment in Feb) and we our place is a little higher than the Aqua Park and what a shock .....!  The state of the roads compared to the last time we visited in Nov! I know that there is usually a lot of rain but, I did not realise it swept away the roads in large part. I know the Council charge is small in comparison with the UK but can anyone tell me if they clear up the roads before the holiday season,  i.e. do they clear the rubble and rocks and fill in the pot holes etc? :-\

Thanks
Kevin

In short, yes they do. Every year. They seem to think it's cheaper to do that than to lay good quality, permanent roads.

They have started clearing the roads. The roads do get washed away in the winter. We have not had many wet days but when it rained the heavens really opened. The problem is that there is no proper drainage and it is all concrete because of the building and it just shoots down the roads like a stream.

It has never ceased to amaze me that after a torrential downpour you loook around and think it will take weeks to clear the debris and make the repairs, but a couple of days later it is all clear and back to how it was before ... which may not be the greatest roads in the world but they get more attention than a lot of countries give their roads, talking of which did anyone notice the roads in the UK of late ... now don't get me started!!

you'll be pleased to know that last week the roads in Ovacik were re leveled - not sure where your place is exactly but I am sure yours will have been done too.
