PVR hard drive television recorder

can someone tell me if one of these from UK will work in Turkey.
Apologies in advance if this is a really daft question.
Also I think I read something about bringing TVs from the UK I couldnt find a definite answer about whether this is ok or not.
Thanks

You can bring TV's from the UK but unless it is small enough to go undiscovered in your suitcase you will probably get clobbered for Bandarola Tax.

If you mean can you record loads of programmes on a PVR in the UK and take the loaded up machine over to Turkey to watch them, then yes you can indeed.

I think Kayakebab means can you connect it with a scart lead and record from your Turkish television?

I am sure someone will know the answer to that better than I would BUT I have considered doing the same as we have Nilesat and get lots of good films on when we are out that we would like to record.

I have a 5 yr old Asda DVD Recorder and I know I can tune it in via the AV to record whatever is on the screen on to a rewritable DVD.

I think that is the best option as I suspect a hard drive on a modern PVR will want to record from its own built in freeview????????

Tribalelder is right that you may get clobbered at Customs - I took a risk and the largest I could get in my case was a flat screen 22" with built in DVD and I was fine (my logic was it came from China ok so with a little extra soft furnishings around it - it should be ok and it was HOWEVER - I am now surprised to see decent looking flat screen 32" TV's going for 649 YTL and I have said to Gill - they will be 599 YTL before much longer and when they are I will buy one as the hassle of trying to "smuggle" is just not worth it. Hope that helps.

Ian :D

Ian you win, but then I had overlooked the fact that it wouldnt be able to record its built freeview, so in fact my question was really stupid.
So Keith wins as well really for realising I couldn't really be wanting to do that.
Thanks for the info re tax on the tv's. I wonder how much the tax is and whether it still works out less than buying a new tv?
