Name that country in one...

Which country has builders that lack the ability to

a). build a house without damp oozing through walls and bubbling the paint not only at ground level but at any level you care to name from basement to roof

b). put a roof on a house that does not leak floods in oooh at least five or six different places

c. build a chimney that does not blow back large billowing volumes of toxic smoke into the house every time there is a gentle breeze never mind when there are gale force winds

d. fit an Air Con direct to the electric that turns itself on and off at random and costing the best part of 250TL over two months when you aren't even there.

e. understand you need to put filla between the window frames and the walls otherwise water comes gushing through every time it rains

f. realise doors and windows are intended to keep out the wind and the rain and these plastic doors and windows with ineffective rubbers fail to do either

Need I go on [:(!]

g. Lay balcony and roof terrace floors to a fall - to ensure rainwater from the whole surface area is channelled directly away from the drain and towards the wall of the building.

We may run out of letters for this one  8)

Thanks Eric yes we are back from our travels... trust me travelling is no holiday  ;)

I am pleased to say that not all of the above applied on this particular occasion Jim but having lived in 6 different apartments/houses in the last 10 years I have personally experienced all of the above and I could probably go on for a few pages about friends experiences and I would not be at all surprised Keith if we ran out of letters for this one.

What really does get to me though as a renter is that we are always expected to pay for the what ever needs doing or lump it...

j) Mix concrete on block-paved drive, with out the benefit of boards
k) Paint the outside walls without sheeting the same block-paved drive resulting in a speckled painted block-paved drive

Job for this year - a new block paved drive:-\

You've reminded me

l) Mix concrete in the bath, and just leave what they don't need to set and stick fast to the bath.

m) fits a patio door the wrong way round - and although you asked for Georgian bars to match the other windows they think it looks better without and its saved you money!
