We've been informed by a reliable source that at least some of the "strays" are actually owned by non-Turkish residents who thoughtfully turn their "pets" out for the night. If true then they should hang their heads in shame.

Hmm, it sounds more of a Turkish trait.  But if it IS non Turkish residents, I hope they are hauled over the coals.

on a more serious note...

Emre is seeking permission from the Belediye to send the truck up there and round them up

Don't think so, the big injured Kangal is still around, has collar on now and being fed I think by the German family.

But because holiday makers have gone from nearby villas they don't seem to be hanging around here all the time.

Apart from waiting for the go ahead from Uzumlu to allow us to pick the dogs up,if the dogs are causing a nuisance there is nothing to stop anyone in Uzumlu putting the dogs in their cars and taking to the shelter, just let them know you found them in the Fethiye area.

Yes.

Is this a cryptic or a caustic reply ?  Perhaps both   :-\

Update: The large Kangal now has a collar on, and our car wouldn't be big enough to put him inside! plus trying to fight with him to get him in - I think not!!

The small terrier dog I have been told was being fed for 3 weeks by british holiday makers so he hasn't been around, but the resident British neighbours didn't like him being fed and hanging around so apparently shot him with a catapult!!
And they wonder why no one likes them!

I don't know anymore than this.

The kangol has now been neutered and is being looked after by Tina Kosuch although it is essentially now a street dog
