Yes, part of Turkey has always been in Europe ! It's not in the EU though.

Norway and Switzerland are also in Europe, but not in the EU.

 we've just booked flights for a week in Istanbul in the spring, no I would'nt want to drive there, but I don't in Fethiye either, but it's a wonderful city traffic or not

Istanbul's busy, but it's really no worse than  any other European city I've driven in. Fethiye's an absolute piece of cake in comparison.

Driving in Istanbul is a snitch. Been doing it for years and need to so as to get to work and back. The only thing you need to do is put your foot down, honk the horn, close your eyes and hope

It's amazing the number of professional drivers that I've worked with who are afraid of driving in London. It's just fear of the unknown.
