Charity collectors
« on: August 27, 2013, 14:39:32 PM »
There are 2 teenage boys in Koca Calis area today collecting money for 'Disbaled Children' They give a receipt for money given .  I have had the telephone number and the receipt which is supposed to be a tax receipt from the Mahliye checked out. Its a scam and they make mega bucks from it. If possible try and get a photo of them. They are targetting non turkish properties.

Genuine charities would never go round calling at houses. NEVER give money to anyone begging at the door unless you see your Turkish neighbours giving....

I had 2 callers 1 day after the other last week in Ovacik.
I told them to go away.  ;)

We're just off Baris Manco and had a guy round about 3 weeks ago, I'd already heard about this scam and politely refused, I noticed that he didn't go to any of my Turkish neighbours' houses.

Yes we had them round this area of calis the day before yesterday, Mrs Tickets answered, but I soon sent him off with a flea in his ear!!  Next time I'll get the photo.

We too had someone calling at our house in Calis a couple of days ago collecting for 'disabled children'. George told them to politely go away. We thought it was probably a scam - now we obviously know it's true. How cruel to use an excuse of helping 'disabled children' to scam money!! Despicable!!

I had a collector about 3 weeks ago too, showed him my 3Cs ID & he soon scarpered, again he seemed not to visit any of my Turkish neighbours.
