Thanks for that.  :)  :) Being over 80 we were very concerned about getting cover when we renewed our RP.

Don, don't know when your Residency is up but the 15 days grace shown in your Blue Book is not being allowed.  You must apply before your Permit expires, in fact you can apply up to six months before expiry.  However, there lies another conundrum, will they renew from the date of application or will they add on the unused period?  Think I already know the answer!

Marggie we still have a year to run so I'm hoping it stays the same as getting insurance at our age is a nightmare. I don't understand the idea of renewing six months early if the RP are only being issued for one year at a time.

Its not that you don't need health insurance, its that you don't have to prove that you have health insurance to get a residents permit.  If you are living here, no matter what your age, you are silly if you do not provide for illness or injury through some type of health cover.
