I take a view based on what a good number of people are saying - both those I know and on sites like this and Tripadvisor etc.

When it comes to believing individuals, I find Cenk and Diverbaz are always spot on        :)

I didn't actually specify the places on Calis front...Like most locals only ate on the sea front when family and friends are out.. I think most of the meals are OK. but it wouldn't be my first choice of places to eat. Linda does get about the whole area and to places the tourists won't even have heard of...

The trouble with reviews is that you might have a good meal at one place on Tuesday so you go back on Friday and it is totally different. Hilary and I went to Meeting Point and had the worst couple of meals we have had in 20 years of visiting Turkey. My Albanian Liver was tough and dry and Hilary's salmon steak was burned till overcooked and leathery. The people on tables around us seemed happy enough with their food and I know that the restaurant gets (usually) great reviews on CBF and high votes in "Restaurant of the Year". But it only takes a minute or so for a chef to take his eye off the hob and a potentially good meal is spoiled. If we went there again we might have a very different opinion. We were asked how we enjoyed the meal and I said "It was horrible". We got 20% off the food bill - I wasn't in the mood to argue. The English couple on the next table said "Well done for saying something" as though they wouldn't have. I notice Turkish people aren't shy about saying when they aren't happy and don't use the mild terms that Brits might (no curate's egg reviews!).

We both enjoy Turkish food so more often than not we will go to one of the lokantas in Gunlukbasi or Fethyie.
There's not a lot of reviews for these places so usually we just pop in and give it a try,  If it's good, we return, if not then there are loads more to try.

If you want a no nonsense Turkish meal try Comert Lokantasi on the Gunlukbasi Road. They have branches in Dalyan, Ortaca and a couple of others. This evening we had one cous cous plate each plus one chicken fried in zucchini each then I had a chicken casserole and Gill had a meat ball casserole. Finally I had a kunefe for dessert and two bottles of water with free bread and free cay for 22.5 lira and it was authentic, very nice and best of all surrounded by Turkish people eating Turkish food
