Furniture Transportation
« on: February 25, 2020, 18:48:13 PM »
Hi
Looking to move some of our furniture from the UK to Calis, does anyone know of someone/company that will transport furniture?
Basically looking for a reliable man with a van.

Do you REALLY need to shift them from the UK to Turkey. It's going to be very expensive and you could quite easily buy replacements in Turkey. In the majority of cases you could buy your furniture in the morning and have it delivered the same afternoon. There's no waiting 6 weeks for delivery unless it's a very special order.

We have some turkish furniture in the villa already, but the wife really wants to ship some of our more expensive sofas across.
The Rochdale cowboy is actually from Middleton strangely enough 😃😃

If you need a LWB van and driver from a company with proper GIT insurance and drivers with experience of customs formalities I doubt you'd get much change from £3000.

It might be worth checking whether you need a Residence Permit to import furniture if you're not with the vehicle at the border. Ask 'Inspector', he'll know for sure.

Another option is to buy a cheap van, drive to Calis, and then give it away or sell it to an expat

I have residency already, I think your suggestion of cheap van is going to be my only option.
Let me know when you’re next in  Calis and I’ll buy you a drink 🥃
