Post by: lindylou42 on April 12, 2012, 11:39:52 AM
Can anyone assist with how I can achieve upgrading from standard at my hotel thats booked for August as I always seem to receive bog standard dungeon rooms each year. :(

You can contact the agent who you booked your accomodation with and ask for a quote to upgrade. You could even contact the hotel directly and ask them for a quote too.

It is the Pine Hill Hotel.

I would tell them to stick it from now on! You are admirable in wanting them to get all the money and not have to pay a booking agent or tour op - and when they get ALL the money from you they stick you in a "bog standard dungeon room" year after year!!! Stuff 'em - where's their loyalty to you, like the loyalty you have showed to them!

I asked which hotel it was because I would be more than happy to ask on your behalf but sadly I don't know anyone at that hotel at all. Good luck though.

When were you last there ?
Pine hills has been refurbished and there bog standard is pretty good.  Their Deluxe rooms are amazing.
Their Jacuzzi suites are out of this world.

Have a look at their website

cheers thank you all for great replies and info. I think we will take it that the room should be good enough what we have. I just want to make sure there is no problem when I arive with my daughter this year.  I do like entertainment but also like to sleep away from the noise too.

If, when you get to the hotel, you aren't happy with your room and want an upgrade, just go to reception and if they have a room available they can sort that out for you and pay the hotel direct.

Last time I was over, I was alone so stayed at the Pelin, booked through Travel Republic as their price was much better than direct. I was sitting in the reception using the wifi and an English guy asked if a late departure room was possible. He was told he could indeed keep his room longer for a small extra fee. That fee being 50% more than I paid TR for each day including breakfast.

Lindylou.  The Reef bar has been soundproofed.  There are two doors in and you hardly hear a thing until the inside door is opened then it is deafening.
I take it you had the room next to the bar?  We were in there and hardly slept at all.  That was several years ago and our last visit.  We were tempted back after the renovations and were there twice last year and heading off again in three weeks and three days.. 8):D

Scunner.  That is Bl***y cheeky.  We are also going through Travel Republic and it was a lot cheaper than TC.  Yet it is a TC flight we are on[?][?][?]
