Title: ADSL
Post by: chris tippett on July 20, 2008, 13:06:16 PM
We've had ADSL here for over 18 months without problem but the last week or so it has slowed to an almost standsill and then suddenly fires up again! Is anyone else out there experiencing any problems or is there some work going on on the system? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Yes its been dreadful for this week. Spoke to TTnet and they said there is a fault and they are trying to repair it but that was 2 days ago and no improvement since then apart from odd times like now!

Its been a problem ever since the earthquake on Tuesday morning. If anyone has a problem ring 4440375 to report it to TTnet. If you don't report it they don't know there's a prob. You need your contract paper to give them your 10 digit ADSL no and your computor turned on cos they will won't to try and "see you" from their computor. When you get thro press 9 for English and don't give up, if you don't get thro' first time keep trying. I logged a call on Friday and today somebody rang me from Ankara to say an engineer will be in touch, Inshallah!!!!

This is the first time for several days I've had a connection. Phoned ADSL every morning & they told me a different fault each time I spoke to them. Still hopefully they have sorted out the problem at last.

WW who's wife is Turkish has had many calls to TTnet this week and have been told they are having to renew the cable from Nif, Uzumlu towards Kemer as there are too many users now for the old cable. It is being sorted but no time scale given...Inshallah

Working well tonight! Perhaps the complaints have shaken things up. Here's hoping - imagine not being able to go on the CBF!

What did he do?  Reason I ask is, it seems to be a few of us that is affected, so I assume it is something only TTNet can do.

Apparently, because the internet keeps going on and off, the computer needs resetting somehow and mine is now ok!

When the internet goes off your computer does not need resetting.....so it begs the question of what he did? Guess you paid him.
Ttnet are aware of the problems and they are working on it. Has been lots better yesterday & today so hopefully its getting better for everyone.
If the internet goes down nothing & no-one can connect you to it no matter how much of a IT wizz they are until its back up and running and then you just fire up your pc or laptop as normal.

It seems odd to me that, according to my computer, the internet connection tells me it is excellent (54mbps) which isn't excellent for broadband but hey ho!  I got to the stage where I was wondering if it actually MSN who had the problem (homepage).  Yahoo seemed to fire up more quickly.  Think I'll contact my son who is a computer whizz-kid.

Peecee, it's not MSN its the connections to the internet. It has been rubbish since the earthquake last Tues. Some days there was no connection other days it was soooo slow to load most of us gave up.
TTnet say they are having to renew the cables as there are too many users for the size of cable. Hopefully it seems to be getting better now.

Just stating the facts about internet connection and having to reset her computer when it came back on to the internet. Prehaps she had another problem with her PC that he sorted by resetting it. An IT man cannot sort out the internet connection when TTnet have been at it all week. It must have been a fault with her PC.
Source of knowledge my son who is a computer engineer.
Just trying to give people a clear picture before they all go rushing of to the man "who can connect them to the internet".
If the internet is down no man, IT expert or not, can connect it by redoing your settings only the TTNet engineers can and it seems they are doing do.
Most common problem with connections when it is up and running is the ADSL box and this can be sorted by unplugging it for 20 seconds then plugging it back in again.

We're all back on the net.  I phoned TTNet and they seem to have sorted the problem yesterday.  I am now monitoring my computer to see if the improvement continues.  I confess this morning I was wondering, then it suddenly perked up.  I am thinking that maybe they were still tinkering.

Well what a cynical lot you are! I did not say anything about repairing the internet ... I did in fact say it was my computer that was repaired as it had a fault caused by intermittent connections to the internet! As you all know so much .... you obviously did not need any help and I should have asked your advice instead!  No... I did not hand any money over to my neighbour, unless you count a bag of tomatoes and a cold coke as payment! Some people in Uzumlu are not always after your money .... I do have some friends - quite a few in fact! Subject closed! And hope you all are now connected.

ROFL, never mind!  Isnt it b' annoying when you make one slip and the world seems to jump on you.  That's the trouble with forums.  Real life is not like that.  Face to face conversations work in far more subtle ways.

Anyway, the main thing is we seem to be back online.   :)

Bikerchickblonde, no offence was meant, just stating facts after reading what you originally wrote so if you took it as synical or as a personal attack I apologise.
