Bit Of Advice Please
« on: September 23, 2006, 17:15:03 PM »
Hi,

We are coming out to our apartment in 2 weeks(in Ovacik) and we are planning on visiting Uzumlu, we first went to the village over 18th months ago now and since then we have been looking at different properties for sale in the area.

We plan on spending the afternoon there have a drive round and look at some propertied and wander in the village and perhaps some lunch. Where would you recomend we visit to have a chat to the locals any particular place i know everyone mentions the wine house.

We want to try to get a feel for the area and see what if any changes since our last visit have happened before we decide to buy there.

Any advice appreciated.

Hi. If you havent been here for 18 months you will see that there have been a lot more houses built since then. The wine bar is probably the best place to get lunch and ask questions because they speak English. The cafes dont have many English speakers but if you speak Turkish then try there.

If you go to the Wine House have a chat with Oscar, the owner, he is very friendly and seems to be able to help with a lot of things

Go to the Ottoman Gardens on the left as you drive up the main road. You can't miss it is a round wooden building.
Not in the village but on the road left.
Now owned by a Scottish lady called Carole and the food is marvelous.

Ozgur is no longer at the Wine House it is now run by Tufan and his girlfriend, I will miss Ozgur being there as he was a wealth of information.

He has moved to the UK to be with his girlfriend and their baby. Tufan made us feel very welcome when we were there last week.
