Pics of Uzumlu & Cadianda
« on: September 10, 2007, 20:44:51 PM »
For a couple of years now I've had a hankering to visit Uzumlu. As we had hired a scooter for a couple of days we thought we would make the effort and I'm so glad that we did it's beautiful.

The ride from Fethiye was stress free and the road was fairly quiet. On arrival to Uzumlu it was market day and yet the place was almost deserted so stoppped for a cool drink at the little restaurant opposite the mosque and whilst there we saw a sign which said Cadianda? we drank up and followed the sign and here is a few pics from out great adventure on the scooter.

By the way Cadianda is known as 'Kadawati' in Lycian, was a relatively obscure city. It is mentioned only once in ancient manuscripts, although its monuments and inscriptions at the site go back to the 5th century B.C.

Great pictures Steve. Can get really hot on the back of a scooter - what was it like travelling any distance on it?

To be honest H Cadianda was about the furthest we went and the 150 auto. With 2 on board it stuggled a wee bit up the more steeper inclines. Until last week it had been 12 years since I'd rode pillion on my Lambretta 125 but I soon got the hang of it once again.

Steve - Thanks for the pics.   Our House is in Uzumlu and your pictures show why we love it so much.  Cadiyanda is one of our favourite escapes - on a really hot day its wonderful to pack a picnic and find a cool pasture amongst the goats !  Thank you for sharing your photos.   :)

Talking of goats here is the only traffic jam we encountered in Uzumlu

Steve, Good pictures, we did this last year. Has the road been improved for cars, we had wheels hanging over edges?
We found the visit well worth it, but you do need to give a fair time to doing the walk around at the top.
In you last picture (goats), a certain Agent is building 3 villas. 8)

Great pictures Steve.
Still not sure how to get to Uzumlu. Any driving directions from Calis or dolmus times would be appreciated.
Thanks
