It was my topic that originally got hijacked and locked. Hey, there's more important things in life. No one would call me a shrinking violet but I do try to add a touch of balance and humour on here now and again - Manubrian imo went a bit over the top but is that a good reason to shut our section down? What will we all do with our winter evenings!?

For the record, sending spiteful and threatening emails to forum moderators isn't "a bit over the top" in my humble opinion.

Scunner,we're not privvy to private emails so we do not know what was said. Manubrian is one contributor amongst very many. His views may not be held by anyone else? I think it's the bit of 'edge' on here that gets people logging on (which has to be good for your site); the alternative is talking about the price of tomatoes, the dolmus timetable or advertising hoardings!

Scunner, on a more serious note, if someone has been so verbally abusive and offensive both on the Forum and personal email (which is totally unacceptable) can you not ban them?
