Death of Erkan Kahraman
« on: November 03, 2008, 07:28:30 AM »
It is my sad task to announce the death of Erkan, who passed away on Saturday night after a heart attack.

He was a well known, well liked and respected man in the local community, helping where he could and also with his involvement in the Yesil Uzumlu Dernek.  He was a popular figure both at the Petrol Ofisi Locanta and at the Camlik, which were two of his watering holes.

His funeral is today, with Ex Pats who knew him meeting in the village square at 12.00 (foreigners are not allowed in the Mosque) followed by his internment at Catalik cemetary.

He will be sadly missed and all our thoughts are with his family today and his mother in particular who will sorely miss him.

We passed on the regards, to his Brother and Son, of people he knew but who could not be there.  They were moved by the response of both Villagers and Ex-pats.

Sorry for my ignorance but one of the first Turks we met here and who made us feel very welcome was called Erkan, do not know his last name and we saw him regularly around the village, smiling and chatting. He drove a red and white Sierra and was often with his elderly mother. Is this the same Ercan who has died? If so this is devastating news and some of our friends in uk who knew him too will be very upset with this news.
