The last time i had brown water coming out of a tap it was on
the west coast of Scotland, always happened after a heavy rainstorm
caused by the peat

Thanks Wallace, good site- give me something to read on these long winter nights! At least in UK there is some authority to have a gripe to - no one here could care less.

Incorrect Scunner, if you were a Turk living in the UK and were told to 'p' off you'd have every right to make a complaint to the Police for discrimination and probably be awarded a vast amount of money in compensation.  There isn't a 'take it or leave it' attitude anymore.

If you're paying for a service (and paying more than the 'local' population which is discrimination) then you expect the service.
This attitude of 'there's no point in complaining' is, IMO, one of the reasons things don't seem to be improving.

Sorry PeeCee, if you mean the Uzumlu Turks dont pay as much as Expats for their water then that is wrong.  Anyone with a pool pays 3 times as much for ALL their water.  We have Turkish neighbours with a pool, their water bill is the same as ours.

The way I see it, these things happen (brown water) even in the UK.  If it made me ill I wouldn't be happy.  But I am OK so, business as usual.  It's the first time it has happened in the 18 months we've been here, so not a common occurrence.  [^]

Just wondered how the water is collected and piped to the house.  Is there a well in the Uzumlu valley and the water is piped (unprocessed) to our houses, or is there any treatment.  Does anyone know?  I am merely interested and not wanting a row.  :)

Things don't seem to be improving in Uzumlu, PeeCee ?

What was there just ten years ago?
