Post by: 5neeky on June 05, 2004, 11:02:32 AM

If you don't mind the journey there's ballet and opera in Aspendos, Antalya from June 12 - July 17, 2004.

A great setting but the seats might be a bit hard!!

See the link below for more info.

i went there a couple of years ago and the seats were hard and hot as they had soaked up the sun all day and you are advised to take something to sit on ........But OH MY GOD!!!!!! what a night
We saw a Russian ballet and Opera company perform and I was moved to tears....what a place and what a night .......I advise any of you to try it at least once whether you are a fan of the classics or not .........just a by word; we have concerts in Fethiye as well in the ampitheatre in October........just a thought

I've just been looking at a picture of the theatre at Aspendos and can imagine the wonderful atmosphere it must have. We are arriving a week friday so we could still be in tome for a visit. It would make a lovely day out if enough of us were interested.

Hi Pete, Sorry for not replying sooner but my PC has gone doolali and I have been trying to fix it (I really want a new one anyway!). It's a good suggestion of yours and I would love to see La Boheme which is on yhe 13th but my good lady,Sue, wouldn't fancy the long trip to Antalya. I hope eventually to visit the place but there will be many more opportunities. We may bump into each other while we are in Calis.
Best wishes
Pete :(

Are tickets for Aspendos this next two weeks easy to get hold of and anybody have an idea of the cost?
Would love to take my son - he has just finished at the Scottish School of Dance and starts at the Central School in London on a full scholarship. He is a fantastic son and I'm very proud of him!!

Have had no luck with either ticket or prices I'm afraid and I'm running out of time with computer access available. If anyone else gets a result perhaps they could post it on the site?  Sinbad, your sons scholarship sounds brill. Best of luck to him, no wonder you're proud. Happy hols.

Been to Aspendos - lovely place - scorching hot when I went even in October. There was a concert but it was a private one for cardiologists/doctors laid on.  Well worth seeing just for the ruins alone.  Will never forget it for more than one reason lol!
