(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/01/20/de3a7yhy.jpg)Over a beer or two a couple of weeks back, some of the 3Cs committee came up with the idea of holding a weekly bike ride. It's been going for a couple of weeks now and is becoming really popular. We set off each Tuesday morning at 10.00am from the Eyna restaurant on Calis Prom. The ride is nice and gentle and generally follows a flat route. We stop half way and enjoy a nice lunch together. Last week we had 13 riders, you can be a serious biker and push on or a Sunday cyclist and just take it nice and slow, the route will cater for all.
Next Tuesday we are going on a picnic, bring a packed lunch and maybe a beer or glass of wine or two. We will have Ali from Doga Bicycles with us should anyone require running repairs.
If you fancy a nice day out with some fresh air good company and a bit of exercise then you are welcome to join us. It's free and a good laugh is guaranteed.
-
I'd be up for that if it goes on through out the season George
-
Anne, It's not my project but I'm sure it's going to be a long term venture, we went last week and it was brilliant, can't wait for Tuesday
-
This sounds great fun.Love cycling around Çalış and Fethiye.Hope to give this a try.
-
Would definately join in when we're over too.
-
Would love to join you when we come back in April :-)

I've had a great idea sent to me, " Why don't we raise the money to buy a couple of bikes which CBF members could book and use while over here" it would be especially good for anyone coming on holiday who would like to join in on our Tuesday bike ride.
I thought we might get Ali from the bike shop to look after the bikes and keep the diary.
What do you think ?
-
I think it's a great idea ;)
It wouldn't cost a great deal and we could surely dream up a stupid/entertaining way of raising it - then members (or indeed anyone) over on holiday could hire the bikes for a set fee, with the possibility of an organised bike ride thrown in. Better to pay a local good cause to hire a bike than a company, surely.
Two bikes, the gift that keeps giving :)
-
Also a great idea for people (like me) who would like to give the ride a try, to make sure it's enjoyable (don't fancy the numb bum etc) before investing in a bike.
-
I should be there tomorrow George 8)
-
See you tomorrow Andy, it will be great if this weather holds up. Bring a picnic. I will go and see Ali Bike shop later and ask him how much he will let us have a couple of bikes for. I'm sure he would lend you a bike for tomorrow Baz if you fancy it.
-
A splendid idea
.
However what would happen if more than two CBFer's were in Calis at the same time (not unusual) and wanted to hire the bikes.
Sorry for putting a negative spanner in the works. :(
-
OK, I have been to see Ali at the bike shop on Baris Manco. He has agreed to sell us two nice used bikes for a total of 250 lira. For this price he will fully service both bikes today to make sure that they are in full working order, he is also going to replace tyres and brakes if required. Both bikes will be ready later this afternoon and so will be available if anyone would like to hire them for tomorrow's bike ride.
To contact Ali, it's 0537 726 75 41 or email Ali_orhon_48@hotmail.com. The cost is 10 lira, just ask to hire the 'Charity Bikes' Anyone coming on holiday can also reserve the bikes for all or any part of your stay, all the money raised on renting the bikes will go to charity.
So to the tricky bit, how we raise the 250 lira to buy the bikes? Ideas please.
-
How about a sponsored bike ride?? Put on CBF.. If you do I will offer a donation.

H, yes that is a distinct possibility, we only have two bikes to hire but of course they live in a bike shop and Ali has plenty of bikes available for hire to avoid any disappointment
-
Could hold a raffle George, AA raised 300tl last night with just a couple of bottles and some choccies.
-
See you in the morning George, I have booked one of the bikes. :D
-
I am in for £10 there you go started now where do I send it

What would happen is that two more people could hire a bike from 3Cs than can today.

George
The CBF was formed ten years ago i believe over a few beers :)
Great idea and a good way to keep fit,and see places you wouldn't normally see.
I hope to join the Calis Beach Cycle Club later this year 8)

It's a lovely day and if your at a loose end today, we set off at 10.00 am this morning
See you later
-
Hope you didn't get too wet.

Not at all Eric, we got as far as just below Letoonia, heard the thunder so set off back, the rain came and we sat in Address cafe on the harbour, they had a raging log fire, we had a couple of drinks, a good laugh and then the rain stopped and sun came out. We cycled home in the sunshine. We did around 21k so at least we all got some fresh air and exercise.
-
Nice one ;D :)
-
I always hire a bike from Ali, he's a good guy and you can bargain with him :). I rode round to Letoonia one day last year, was enjoying the ride that much I didn't realise how far I'd gone :o. But the fascinating boat yard and the views were fantastic, was a bit tired when I got back :'( but after a few cheeky ones in PJ's I soon pulled round ;D.

I suppose someone will have to come up with a name for this group soon and after yesterday session with two people falling off before we got to Fethiye (in seperate incidents!) :o we could become the The Wobbily Wheelers ;D ;)
-
Tinks, there was a third accident, Chris fell off while stopped outside of Graham's house. That's not an easy thing to do !
-
I am only coming if someone gets me a set of stablisers...

This is doing nothing for my fear of cycling.....

I am soooooooo jealous seeing you guys still wearing shorts and some in short sleeves. I was nearly blown off the face of the earth today in the gales and rain. Great photo!
;D

Just a gentle reminder, we set off each Tuesday at 10.00am from the Eyna on Calis Seafront. No problem if you don't own a bike, the 3Cs have now purchased two bikes and they are available to hire at 10 lira per day. Our bikes are kept at Ali's bike shop on Baris Manco (near PJs Bar)
If you fancy hiring a bike, either for our group cycle ride or while here on holiday, drop me a message and I will pop your reservation into the diary.
-
Hiya - as the last post dates back to February 18, 2013, we were wondering if the group is still active.
We would be very interested in joining every now and then on Tuesdays.
Can we rent two bikes from the group or from Ali's bike shop?
-
Hi there
You need to rent via Alis shop, and tell him it's for the children's charity bikes.
The group leave the Eyna restaurant on Tuesdays at 8am now because its hot.
-
The bike shop closes on a Tues as he goes on the bike trip as we found out last week.
-
Thanks for the updates, kayakebab and Toky!
I am impressed by the prompt reactions in this forum.
We may meet on one of the next Tuesdays ...
-
The group now meet a bit earlier (8am, same meeting place) as it's very hot.
I must say that we have gone along a couple of times, and it has been a fab morning. Well worth getting up early for! The group are very friendly and welcoming. You will really enjoy it - I just wish we were able to spend more time in Calis, and we would definitely be regulars. :)
-
How far normally is the bike ride that you do ? If we want to join you all do we need to message someone as there does not seem to be current up dates on here as to where the meet is every week, or is it always Enyas at 8am?
