Every year unbeknown to most people there is a Nomad Festival in early August in Seydikemer about an hours drive from Fethiye.
These are a few photos I took:

We went there a few years ago and, once they realised that we could have a half decent conversation with them in Turkish, we were treated like long lost members of the family. It was a real struggle to drag ourselves away in the evening.

We, well actually I as Doğan is Turkish, was probably the only yabancı there. It was great
It's over two days, Saturday and Sunday and we stayed the night, but actually the day to go is Sunday in time for the re- enacted migrant walk at about ten o'clock.
Nomads come from all over Turkey and other Turkmen countries too.
What I wasn't able to capture in any meaningful way was the most incredible horse riding and daring feats performance.
I'm certainly planning to go again next year and it's possible that there may be a bus organised from Fethiye as there was a lot of interest from people who saw the photos on my FB Page that like me hadn't known this even happened.
And of course there was loads of amazing food and plenty of craft stalls for those that like that sort of thing plus both days there was a proper market there too.
And of course it's a great photo opportunity as everyone wants to be photographed in all their glory.

There's a big annual meeting of nomads during the Oil Wrestling Season near Seki that's also worth a visit. It takes place over a long weekend starting on a Friday afternoon.
It's always worthwhile looking out for adverts for the Camel Wrestling events. They're well worth a visit, if only for the food. ;)

That's the same one that we went too KKOB
Seki Sedykemer :)
